Army Knowledge Awards Program Winners Named for 2007

The Army Knowledge Awards Program, sponsored by the Army Chief Information Office, recognizes outstanding initiatives that exploit knowledge management tools and promote Army-wide knowledge sharing.

The 2007 Army Knowledge Award Program winners are:

  • e-Army Initiative category: Distributed Learning System (DLS). DLS delivers distributed learning using web-based, state-of-the-art technology that enables training to occur anytime, anywhere -- 24/7. Available to more than 1.2 million Army personnel, DLS provides training through one of five supported components: Digital Training Facilities, Enterprise Management Center, Army Learning Management System, Army e-Learning and Deployed Digital Training Campuses.

  • Knowledge Transformation Initiative category: NCO Net. NCO Net is a web-based virtual community for noncommissioned officers to discuss such issues as professional development, Soldier development, leadership, and lessons learned. The site provides an Armywide venue for peer-to-peer discussions of important issues to the Army and the NCO Corps. The site began as a Bulletin Board service in 1991.

  • Enterprise/Cross-functional Solution category: S1 Net. Part of a network of professional forums under the Battle Command Knowledge System, S1 Net supports the flow of knowledge throughout the human resources community. S1 Net provides relevant and timely information to leaders in the field; identifies new ways of capturing knowledge to improve decision making; and offers a more effective learning community by tapping into the experiences of Soldiers and leaders. The active community links battalion and brigade S1s together where Topics range from casualty assistance to convoy operations.
