For several years the Army has sponsored eCybermission, an online science, math, and technology competition for upper elementary and middle school students. The students put together a team, identify a project, develop a solution, and report on their efforts.
Army scientists and engineers support this program by volunteering as CyberGuides. CyberGuides answer students' questions online and help guide them through the program. Volunteers are expected to spend six 4-hour shifts online during the course of the competition, which runs from September to February of each year, although they are free to spend more time as they choose. The eCybermission website contains more information.
